Our Team
Real people. Real connection. Real growth.
We’re the co-founders of NurturedRoots—educators, parents, and longtime friends who believe in the power of relationships to transform learning. We’ve walked alongside hundreds of families, helping students build the confidence and skills they need to thrive. NurturedRoots is the kind of place we always dreamed of creating—warm, collaborative, and community-centered.
We’d love to meet you.
Kelsey Young, Co-founder, Educational Therapist, Certified Nutritionist
Hi, I’m Kelsey—an educational therapist, nutritionist, and co-founder of NurturedRoots. I’ve spent the past 15+ years walking alongside students, families, and educators to help learners grow in ways that feel meaningful, not just measurable.
I founded Roots of Learning in 2014 to offer individualized support for students with learning differences. Since then, my work has evolved to include executive function coaching, parent collaboration, and school team consultation. I also teach graduate courses in educational therapy at the University of Riverside—an ongoing reminder that the best work blends both research and relationship.
As both an educator and a mom of two, I understand how layered and complex the learning journey can be. I believe it starts with connection. When a child feels understood and encouraged, they begin to trust themselves—and that’s when true learning takes root.
My background in clinical nutrition adds another layer to my work. For families interested in a whole-child lens, I love exploring how things like sleep, stress, and nourishment can support attention, regulation, and readiness to learn.
NurturedRoots is the kind of space I always hoped to build—grounded in strong relationships, thoughtful support, and the shared belief that growth happens best when we’re doing it together.
Michelle Campbell, Co-founder, Educational Therapist
I’ve always been passionate about helping children find their unique strengths, and as a mother of two young, wonderful boys, I get to see this firsthand every day. Watching my sons tap into their individual talents and strengths is one of the most fulfilling parts of my life. It ignites their curiosity and makes learning something they crave, rather than something they have to do. This is what drives me—helping other families experience the same joy and excitement in learning that I see in my own children.
Over the past 15 years in education, including more than a decade running my own educational therapy practice, A Nurtured Mind, I’ve learned how important it is to create an environment where every child feels supported, seen, and empowered. I understand that every child learns differently, and it's my mission to help them discover their strengths and passions so that they can thrive academically and emotionally.
Holding a Master’s degree in Education, I’m committed to making education not only effective, but also engaging and fun. I want every child to feel confident and excited about learning, and I believe that when educators and families work together, children can thrive and grow in a safe space. This work is not just a career for me—it's a passion born out of my own experience as an educator and as a parent who believes in the transformative power of education.
